Mr Peter Keegan established Keegan Funeral Directors in 1964, initially carrying out this very sensitive occupation from the Market Square in Portlaoise. In the intervening 50 years we have built up a wealth of experience. Many changes have happened in this period, and the company has endeavoured to not only keep up , but has proved itself capable of being ahead of many changes that have occurred.
Since then the company has undergone many changes , both in professionalism and reacting to changes in the needs of the public. In 1985 Matthew took over the reins from his father. In 1994 he embarked on training to become a qualified Embalmer, choosing to do so through the British Institute, which at that time was regarded as the world leader in this practice. This involved over 3 years continues learning and training.
